What are the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Steps of Recovery? Let me simplify this process towards sobriety... Here's the AA Steps for beginners. These AA steps are simplified and definitions also apply to other 12 Steps. Welcome to a program of discovery. Climb the sober ladder of success! The 12 Steps to recovery is like climbing up a 12 rung ladder. This is the means you use to pull yourself out of the muck (alcoholism, addiction, overeating, trauma, stress and dysfunction) and aspire upwards to reach a place of serenity. For Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Adult Children of Alcoholics and Other Dysfunctional Families (ACA or ACoA), the Steps and the corresponding spiritual principles, are mostly the same. Yes, the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, the 12 Steps of Narcotics Anonymous, the 12 Steps of Cocaine Anonymous, and the 12 Steps of Adult Children of Alcoholics are different versions of the same ladder. Each will get you to a place of Serenity. Don't overthink the 12 Steps. Don't rush through the 12 steps. Simplify and be mindful of your footing. Falling off the 12 rung ladder only leads you back to the muck. I have worked with many people who have walked into an AA meeting and seen the 12th steps posted on a huge banner on the wall. For many, this is intimidating. It does not need to be. Simplifying and demystifying. The 12 step process makes it much more easy to achieve. Recovery happens. Choose your ladder: the 12 Steps of AA, the 12 Steps of NA, the 12 Steps of CA, and the 12 Steps of ACoA all will get you out of your muck and to a place of serenity. Build a new tribe.
