Fused silica glass

Fused silica is an amorphous glass material formed by high-purity silica (SiO₂) melted at high temperatures and then rapidly cooled, and its silica content usually exceeds 99.9%. It has excellent optical transparency, and the light transmission range covers the ultraviolet to infrared bands (190nm-2500nm), especially in the ultraviolet region, the light transmittance is significantly better than that of ordinary glass. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is extremely low (about 0.55×10⁻⁶/°C), and its thermal shock resistance is outstanding, and it can withstand sudden changes in high temperatures above 1000°C without cracking.
