In this video Dave Richards talks about the testing capabilities that are available at MagDev Ltd for permanent magnets. http://www.magdev.co.uk At MagDev Ltd there is a wide range of test and magnetising equipment available, all designed to give the customer the exact product they have ordered. One such piece of equipment is the Permeameter, which is used to plot the second quadrant demagnetising curve, defining all the magnetic properties of a magnetic material. MagDev Ltd. also uses Helmholtz coils, which give a comparative test of flux lines emanating from a magnet. This can be useful in determining whether a magnet has been fully magnetised or if there is a problem with the magnetic material. Another piece of test equipment would be Gauss meters, which use Hall effect chips to give calibrated flux density figures for magnetic fields in Gauss or Tesla. These are used along with the Helmholtz coils in order to give quick, in-process, part specific tests ensuring the product will meet the customers’ requirements. MagDev Ltd have three capacitor discharge magnetisers and an electromagnet which are used to magnetise (or de-magnetise) all magnet materials within certain size constraints.
