Cyclone Ditwah: Red Alert in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry; India Launches Operation Sagar Bandhu

As Cyclone Ditwah approaches the Indian coast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andhra Pradesh. The IMD stated, 'The system is very likely to continue to move north-northwestwards across coastal Sri Lanka... and reach over south-west Bay of Bengal' by the early morning of November 30. The storm has already wreaked havoc in Sri Lanka, claiming over 50 lives. In response, India has launched 'Operation Sagar Bandhu' to provide humanitarian aid. Cuddalore district officials have identified 233 relief centers to house evacuees.
