Counseling professional standards Counseling professional standards, including the CRCC Code of Professional Ethics for Rehabilitation Counselors, supports a framework for ethical decision-making that provides counselors with guiding principles that promote and protect the profession of counseling. This presentation will explore professional values, trends in ethics, and topics that examine professional ethical behavior including revisions to the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics, updates on the Counseling Compact and a review of other ethical and legal issues. Dr. Aprille Woodson, J.D., LPC, NCC is a licensed professional counselor in Georgia and the Program Manager of Ethics for the American Counseling Association (ACA). In her current position at ACA, she is the subject matter expert for ethics and oversees the program portfolio and initiatives that lead to the development of all ethics-related programs including managing the Ethics adjudication process due to violations of professional standards. She also works with efforts to expand the Counseling Compact and other practice related issues.
