I have always been fascinated by vintage electronic products that are made to look like something else. The Aiwa TP-719 is a 1960s tape recorder that is cleverly designed to look like a briefcase. The build quality of this machine is surprisingly good. Unfortunately, there's very little information on this machine online; I haven't been able to find a schematic for it yet. Hopefully, this video will help others who also own one of these really cool machines. In this video I examine the exterior and interior of the unit and test it. As it turns out, it does need to be repaired. I will record Part 2 once I am able to obtain replacement belts. Update September 14, 2022 I found a schematic diagram for this machine. You can find it now on Radiomuseum.org Update September 18, 2022 I'm working on the sequel/conclusion now. According to http://russellind.com/client/download... the belts for it are: FF13.2 idler wheel to play wheel (forward) FRM14.0 motor to flywheel (capstan drive) - I used an FBM14.0 OA13.2 idler wheel to take up wheel (tape counter) - I used an RBS13.2
