Typography and the Printer
A brief introduction to the typographic challenges and the methods used by letterpress printers to address them, during the hand-press period. This remote-learning video was filmed during the Winter 2021 COVID-19 lockdown, from the home print shop of Lead Printer Stephen Sword, the stiff 'n' sore press, on behalf of the Bibliography & Print Room. This video was prepared for the Winter 2021 "Book History in Practice" course (BKS1002H) in the Book History & Print Culture Program, University of Toronto. But all viewers are welcome! The Bibliography Room is located in the Robertson Davies Library, Massey College, University of Toronto.
