Who this course is for ‍The course Dutch beginners Basic is for everyone who does not yet speak Dutch yet and who has finished a secondary education. Course Purpose & Summary Upon successful completion of the course, you are able to get around in everyday life and you dare to ask and answer simple questions. As you will have a basic knowledge of Dutch and the Dutch culture you will feel more at home in The Netherlands. The course Beginners Basic is for everyone who does not speak Dutch yet and who has finished a secondary education. After successfully finishing the course you will have reached the A1 level. Next level training will be Beginners Plus or the course preparing for Civic Integration Exam. Listening: You are able to understand simple words and sentences regarding yourself, your family, work and everyday life if and when speakers address you slowly. ‍Reading: You are able to understand simple words and sentences in standard texts like announcements, posters, catalogs and advertising brochures. ‍Speaking: Straight from the beginning we encourage you to speak Dutch. You will learn how to introduce yourself, what to say when you meet someone, when you arrive somewhere and when you leave. You are able to give information about yourself: ‘Ik woon in Amstelveen’ or ‘Mijn hobby's zijn reizen en koken’. You will learn how to order in a bar or restaurant. You will be able to talk to your neighbours, colleagues, chat about the weather, congratulate people and make conversation in shops. ‍Writing: You learn to write simple texts like a WhatsApp- or e-mail message, a congratulation on a birthday or a birth and you learn how to fill out forms with personal information. Grammar: In this course you will learn simple Dutch grammar rules. Using these you will be able to use the correct word order, conjugate verbs in the present tense and talk about your day, weekend or holiday: ‘Wat heb je gedaan?’ ‘Ik heb gegeten, gedronken, gezwommen.’
