Kingsgate Consolidated Limited is a highly successful ASX listed Australian resources company with significant expertise in gold exploration, development and mining. Kingsgate owns and operates the Chatree Gold Mine through it's Thai subsidiary, Akara Resources Public Company Limited. Kingsgate also owns the Nueva Esperanza Gold & Silver Development Project in northern Chile. The Chatree Gold Mine is located 280km north of Bangkok in central Thailand. Gold was first discovered in the area in the late 1980s and early 1990s by Australian and Thai geologists, some of whom still work for Akara today. The Chatree Gold Mine is in fact named after one of the founding geologists from this time. Since operations commenced in 2001, the Chatree Gold Mine has created thousands of jobs, supported local businesses throughout central Thailand, and has generated over 39 billion Thai Baht for local communities and the Thai economy.
