“ how do you tell a story that is still in the making? how do you choose where to start and where to finish? if every action you take is a reaction to many other actions you've taken before, how do you pick one to be the first? or to be the last? how do you choose what will be shown and what will be left out? every photo leaves out what's outside the frame. every video leaves out what happened before you pressed record. you can paint someone's face, but it will never feel exactly like the first time you saw it. and then you can sit and write down your feelings, but you're limited to what words can say. you see, in every attempt to capture a moment, you inevitably end up with only a piece of it. as if you were holding a glass of water by a river. in the end, all that is left is nothing but fragments. fragments of moments. fragments of memories. fragments of feelings. ” “i forget where we were” (@benhoward_) was recorded in celedizzo (trentino, italy) in january 2026. of the many songs i could choose to begin telling my story, “ifwww” is probably the most poignant. it came to me during a period when i began to realize my mind couldn’t make sense of all the expectations, responsibilities, and contradictions that contemporary society imposes on a young adult. on first listening, i remember being completely still, absorbed by that luminous guitar riff, already aware that no song had ever made me feel that way. it felt like a somber ray of light in the middle of the dark. during the recording of this video, it also helped me deal with the problems i was having at the time, serving as a reminder that even though the present doesn’t look as bright as we wish, we can still find comfort in the fact that everything passes and in the hope that the future will be better. looking at the video now, i struggle to comprehend whether singing it in a dark room while bright, melting snow shone through the window was really a coincidence.
