Check out my Substack: https://theroyalist.substack.com/ Prince Andrew’s desperate attempt to repair relations with Prince William has been revealed after a professional lip reader decoded a tense exchange between the pair at the Duchess of Kent’s funeral. The moment, captured on the steps of Westminster Cathedral last September, showed Andrew approaching William and Princess Catherine during a visibly frosty encounter that quickly went viral. According to the new Channel 5 documentary *Lip-Reading The Royals: What Are They Really Saying?*, lip reader Nicola Hickling says Andrew used the brief interaction to plead with William, saying: “I’ve learnt from what I’ve done but before I forget, and if I can, I’d like to ask you if you can forgive?” William reportedly gave no response before Andrew moved away. After he left, Catherine is said to have remarked, “He seemed very sorry,” to which William replied: “Do you think I deserved that? Is that what you mean?” The encounter came at an extremely sensitive moment for the Duke of York. It followed the release of the first tranche of the Epstein files by the U.S. Department of Justice and preceded the dramatic decision—reportedly driven by William—to strip Andrew of remaining titles and force him out of Royal Lodge. The documentary also examines private conversations involving Andrew’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. In footage filmed in Mayfair after Andrew’s fall from grace, Beatrice is interpreted as saying: “I’m feeling angry but we must not add to it. You are going to need to be out of the country… He isn’t going to play by the rules and we need to be out of the way, Eugenie.” In another extraordinary moment analysed by lip readers, King Charles is said to have muttered “Fuck me!” as he climbed into the carriage after his Coronation at Westminster Abbey in 2023, prompting Queen Camilla to reply: “Frankly, I don’t want to hear that.” In this video, I break down the extraordinary revelations from the documentary, what the exchange between Andrew and William really tells us about the state of the royal family, and why Andrew’s future inside the monarchy may now be effectively over.
