How to Whipstitch Straight-edged Crochet Seams: Standard Whipstitch and Modified

The Whipstitch is an easy and popular way to join or seam together crochet pieces. For this demonstration, I did the whipstitch using single crocheted pieces with the whipstitching done in a contrasting yarn, so that it could better be seen. We will be crocheting some straight top/bottom seams. In this video tutorial, the whipstitch is shown in TWO different versions - the original and most standard way of doing the whipstitch and a smaller, modified version, which is more often used decoratively for texture on straight-edged pieces. I did not show how to "secure" the whipstitch at the beginning in this video, because I usually don't secure it (I just weave it in), but if you'd like to secure it, just do your first whipstitch in the same "v" or stitch that you inserted your embroidery needle in to begin. It should looked like you wrapped your yarn completely around the first "v", then move on with your whipstitching.
