Emotions are important in sales. Buying is 20% logical and 80% emotional. People buy for emotional reasons. In today’s world most products offer similar benefits, so trying to convince the customer with science and logic may not work; whereas you can convince the customer through emotional appeals. ‘Emotions influence the decision six times more the rational.’ The thumb rule is a ‘customer can be convinced when connected emotionally.’ So as a salesperson don’t try to convince the customer, try to connect with him emotionally. The most powerful companies like ‘apple’, ‘P&G’, or ‘Patanjali’, they have one thing in common. They are good in building emotional connection with customer. So, it doesn’t matter what you sell, you need to build an emotional connection with the customer. There are many ways to build emotional connection with customer; for example: 1. Develop your emotional intelligence 2. Ask about customer’s well being while interacting 3. Actively listen to your customer. 4. Make your customers feel that their opinion is important 5. Make your customer the hero of the story. Always highlight the importance of the customer.
