The water originates from Kabukalan Spring and flows through the Kawasan gorge, creating those famous milky-blue pools that look straight out of a fantasy movie. The color is 100 percent natural, caused by rich limestone deposits in the area. The main waterfall stands approximately 12 meters (40 feet) tall and is the most photographed spot in all of Cebu. Locals and travelers nicknamed it "The Gatorade Factory" because the water is THAT blue! The surrounding area features smaller cascades, pristine swimming pools, and dense tropical rainforest creating an absolutely magical atmosphere. IMPORTANT 2026 UPDATES: Following the devastating effects of Typhoon Odette (Super Typhoon Rai) in December 2021, Kawasan Falls underwent reconstruction and reopened to the public in October 2023. As of 2026, access is currently limited to Level 1 (main falls) for regular visitors. Levels 2 and 3 can only be accessed through licensed canyoneering tours for safety reasons. New additions include a thrilling zipline across the falls and improved safety infrastructure. Construction work may occasionally limit swimming areas directly under the falls, so check current conditions before your visit. The "3-Hour" Rule: Level 1 sightseeing now has a time limit to prevent overcrowding.
