In this video we install the SURCO Rear Ladder that we purchased from Sprinter Store on our 2016 4x4 Sprinter Van DAPHNE. The install was fairly straightforward, as all the hardware we needed came with kit. We did however make the installation a little more robust by bolting through the door panel with 1/4" stainless steel nuts and bolts. Easy install can be done in less than an hour with the hardware the kit comes with or maybe 1 to 2 hours if you do it like we did and bolt through, which requires taking the interior door trim panel off. We opted for the driver side door, but in retrospect, the passenger side may have been a better choice, due to our desire to mount a bike or ski rack on the ladder (more on that below) Tools Required: Wrenches Drill with Metal Stepped Drill Bit (or equivalent) Trim removal tool (optional) Materials Required: SURCO ladder, including install kit Extended Door Stop 2 x 1/4" x 1" Stainless Steel Bolts, Nuts, Washers Rubbing Alcohol Metal Paint or Primer (protecting the holes from rust) NOTES: Consider very carefully where you will place the ladder. Especially consider what attachments you might be adding to your ladder and how that might impact how you close the door!! We did not do this and had to move the ladder. Also, consider that if you are attaching bikes or ski racks or other things to your ladder this may hinder your ability to close the rear doors separately, as the passenger door most overlap the driver door. These are things we should have considered in advance.
