Check out my album: • Tuff Sturgeon - Almost Zero (Full Album) 48 MPH feels pretty fast when you're one inch off the ground with no suspension. Watch loud and in full screen for maximum realism! This was my first and only day on a street luge, I made about 5-6 runs that day and that was it. This was mainly to see if I could actually build a functional street luge, and I was happy with the results! I never returned to this run and the luge was eventually scrapped. Made from 2x4s and plywood, Orangatang Inheats and Paris 195s with stiff double barrels. This ridiculous looking suit was made by covering some old jeans and jacket with acryllic tiles, underneath a couple layers of duct tape. I was not willing to buy a leather racing suit for a one day use so this was the alternative. The luge felt extremely stable even at top speed, but if I had bailed and slid across the pavement, I'm positive this suit would have provided way more abrasion resistance than regular clothes. Speed verification for nerds: I calculated my average speed of the fastest straightaway section of the run between these two coordinates on google maps: 37.06520, -121.19011 and 37.06501, -121.18010 These points are the beginning of the guardrail (2:44) and the first of the two brown signs (3:26). Following the slight curve at the start of the road, the distance between these points on google maps is 2919 feet. I covered this distance in 41.4 seconds, giving me an average speed in this section of 48.07 MPH, which means I must have hit this speed at least once along this distance.
