Impromptu visit to Faver Dykes State Park on the southern end of St. Johns County, FL. Although serene, today's Florida kayaking trip was a bit lackluster with barely any wildlife in sight. Faver-Dykes State Park is a Florida State Park located 15 miles south of St. Augustine, near the intersection of US 1 and Interstate 95. A designated canoe trail, the waterway through the park connects to the Intracoastal Waterway at Pellicer Creek Aquatic Preserve. The park also has a designated rolling kayak launch which I have never seen before! The park spans 1,450 acres and is home to a large alligator population. As far as kayaking, I would consider this a beginner's area. The water is extremely calm and getting in and out of Pellicer Creek is very easy. This is also a well-known fishing spot which boasts several hearty species. The park is teeming with wildlife and we saw whitetail deer while driving through. Park visitors will need to bring $5 cash in order to enter and park. Kayaks and canoes can be rented at the Ranger's station. 📍 Map Pin: https://goo.gl/maps/1ctkRwbMsJBzNcpU7 🛶 Park Website: https://www.floridastateparks.org/par...
