I take examples from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi to show you how John Williams’ score is riddled with examples of what I call Musical Onomatopoeia. We go behind the film score and look closer at analysing how the composer thinks about writing music for film with orchestra.
