Daniel Pink When Book Summary Reading Part 1 of 2. After picking up Dan's new book, When, I've decided to highlight the main ideas as I read through the book. This is what I've found one third in: 1. Know Thyself See when you naturally wake up and go to sleep. This will help you realize if you are an early bird Lark, a late night Owl or third bird (a majority of us). Once you figure this out, plan your most important activities and tasks to when you have the most energy 2. Take Meaningful Breaks Much like waking up after a good night's sleep, a break provides a mental refresh that can help you feel refreshed and focussed. Take breaks at regular internals, be active and try going outside to properly reset your mind. 3. Naps And Coffee Naps are good but only if you take them between 10 - 20 minute internals. Any less is not enough and any more will put you into deeper sleep which may drag you down! If you do take nap, try drinking coffee right before as the caffeine will kick in right when you wake up to give you a double dose of energy.
