The reason so many people want to work in tech sales is because it affords you a lucrative tech career without needing to be technical or know how to code. You basically get paid for being able to communicate effectively. Should you work at a big company or a small company? First I want to talk about the big picture job market and then I will talk through the top 5 Best Software Products voted by G2 that would be good starting place to apply to. A question someone from LinkedIn messaged me today was that he has 3 offers and wanted perspective on if he should join a big company. Big companies can offer higher pay and better training but potentially less upside and more politics. Small companies are typically easier to get hired at, less structure but upside with equity. When looking at companies it’s also important to be selling the right product As you think about right product that means product market fit, this makes it easier for you to be successful selling the product. A couple things you can look at here are company growth from employee count/revenue perspective, private market funding, & marketplace websites likes G2. Taking a look at G2 we can see that Gong, Chorus.ai, Amplitude Analytics, Salesloft, & Sendoso are rated top 5, probably good places to start. Finding the right companies is all about putting yourself in the right situations I didn’t know what an SDR was until my senior year of college, I got lucky at a job fair that introduced me to companies. If you aren’t still in school then you need to rely on the internet & connections. Think of the most successful person you know, reach out to them to learn about interesting companies.
