Offer good through St. Patrick's Day 2019 Today I am painting in the new Arteza watercolor sketchbooks. I have been testing them out a lot lately to see if I like them and I really do. They remind me a lot of the Stilman & Birn Beta series mixed media paper so if you like that paper you will love these. They have a classy fabric cover and an elastic closure. The paper is a bit on the light side (like the S&B MM beta series) but I didn't mind it and could paint on both sides of the page with no issue. The paper is 110# and it resembles a typical 90# watercolor paper you would purchase by the sheet. For that reason I think the smaller sketchbooks (5.5"x8" and 3.5"x5.5" ) are the best bet but honestly a little buckling doesn't bother me and I am happy to have the larger 9"x12" book too. I did want to make a note of it though in case it did bother you. The book says "cold pressed" but I find it to be smoother (like a medium drawing or mixed media paper tooth) so you might find it smoother than you are used to. If you like to incorporate stamping or art journalist this would be an excellent book for that. I love there is no mechanical grain to the paper (unlike the canvas texture of their original spiral bound watercolor books and pads) and it is very natural looking. Both sided are paintable but the back side is slightly smoother than the front. I believe the paper is cellulose as it doesn't say it's cotton but the paper absorbs water evenly and can take layering and lots of water without pilling. I recommend these sketchbooks, they are sold in packs of 2 so as long as you can use them up go for it! I also used the Arteza pan set of 36 and tube set of 12 in my palette (although not all the colors obviously) These products can be purchased from the Arteza website or on Amazon. If shopping on the Arteza Website please use coupon code FRUGAL10 to take 10% off your order: http://shrsl.com/1a617 (affiliate links used) *I recommend checking prices on Amazon as well before ordering as there can be differences in price and special deals there too:) ** also I wanted to mention that the pan watercolors are more "modern" colors and the tubes are more traditional (better for mixing I think) Gotta save my peeps some green! Arteza Watercolor sketchbooks on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2UudiG5 Arteza pan watercolors on Amazon: https://amzn.to/2CgGcT9 Arteza tube watercolors on Amazon (12 color set I have added in my pan set) https://amzn.to/2TwZAps *I put them in half pans in the extra row, any half pans will fit, I used these: https://amzn.to/2TzWGAb Arteza also has a 24 tube watercolor set: https://amzn.to/2Htgz4U And a 60 watercolor tube set https://amzn.to/2HvBzI4 *You can use the tube paint fresh or dry it in a palette. If you fill a palette to dry I recommend adding 2 drops of honey or glycerin to each pan so it won't crack and fall out when dry: https://amzn.to/2u8yQwd Colors used: Yellow ochre, sap green, olive green, indigo, rose, violet, burnt umber (or sienna) Brushes: #2, #6 round Reference photo: https://unsplash.com/photos/frpJx4M8TsE Sweet Bunny with Flowers Watercolor Tutorial for Beginners #thefrugalcrafter #watercolor #art My goal is to provide you with inspiration!
