Global One Health Perspectives on Antimicrobial Resistance

Antimicrobial resistance is recognized as a global health crisis requiring a One Health approach across geopolitical and disciplinary boundaries. Discussion will focus on worldwide trends in antimicrobial use and resistance in humans, animals, and plants, especially with reference to differences between high and low-resource settings. There will be a review of recent efforts to correlate usage and resistance between humans and livestock at international and global levels. The presentation will conclude with discussion of national and intergovernmental efforts to detect resistance and increase the judiciousness of use.
