Vimentin is Rubbish! The Most Worthless Immunostain in Soft Tissue Pathology

Very often I see vimentin immunohistochemical stain ordered on spindle cell tumors by other pathologists. This video explains the proper use and interpretation of vimentin in soft tissue pathology (just kidding...there is no proper use!). I never order vimentin, and I've never once seen it change the diagnosis in a case. Outside of soft tissue pathology, there may be some role for vimentin that I'm not aware of. But for spindle cell tumors, it's basically rubbish.
