Shraddha Ceremony of Zubeen Garg , Bishnupriya Manipuri Organised Nam -Sankirtan in Guwahati

On the occasion of the Shraddha of the late singer Sri Zubeen Garg, the Radha Madhav Sevashram of Greater Guwahati organized a Nam-Sankirtan in accordance with the Vaishnavite rituals of the Bishnupriya Manipuri tradition. The Sevashram conducted the ceremony on behalf of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community. Community members recalled Zubeen Garg’s contribution in bringing wider recognition to the Bishnupriya Manipuri language and culture. They compared his role to that of Rabindranath Tagore, who introduced the Ras Leela of the Bishnupriya Manipuri tradition to the world with the help of Nileshwar Mukherjee and Senarik Rajkumar at Santiniketan. The gathering expressed gratitude towards the late singer for singing in the Bishnupriya Manipuri language and for supporting local artistes. The Nam-Sankirtan was held with prayers for the peace of his soul, seeking eternal service at the lotus feet of Radha-Krishna.
