Additionally, the project features a curated UD pack, which I will be using throughout these videos for the intended Half-Life: Ultimate Chronology experience, which not only changes the models to higher quality versions, but also consists of custom-made patches for the featured mods that fix bugs, improve their custom content, or in some cases, modify the mod itself to better connect it with the previous or next entry. This video is the tenth entry in Part 1 of the Half-Life: Ultimate Chronology project, called "Half-Life as Gordon". Part 1 explores all entries in the Half-Life 1 timeline that are from the perspective of Gordon Freeman. When they're all merged together, they extend Freeman's journey into a six day long restless journey for survival. Additionally, a prequel and several sequels are added that follow Freeman's escape from Black Mesa and the subsequent containment of the disaster. One important thing to note is that many of the mods featured in this part were created before the release of Half-Life 2, meaning their authors had no idea about any future developments and retcons introduced in the Half-Life series post-Half-Life 1. Due to this, contradictions with the Half-Life 2 timeline are to expected in Part 1, and this continuity should be seen as an alternate take on the Half-Life story where the events of Half-Life 2 never happened. With that out of the way, here below is the description of the mod featured in this video: ETC 2 - Earthquake Test Centre 2 HLUC Description (CONTAINS SPOILERS): "ETC 2 – Earthquake Test Centre 2 – Picking up directly after ETC, the mod begins with a short cutscene showing that the portal Gordon entered was a trap orchestrated by the G-Man and the HECU, resulting in his capture and imprisonment in an unknown section of Black Mesa, that is under military control. Set during the night of the fourth day, the facility comes under attack by an unknown force (Black Ops?) and Gordon escapes his cell with the help of a scientist who also fell into the same trap. The story follows Gordon as he fights his way through HECU and Xen forces while pursuing traces of the G-Man from deep underground to surface areas resembling Surface Tension, eventually reaching the morning of the fifth day. Along the way, anomalous portal activity is witnessed, which later turns out to be an attempt by a group of surviving scientists to reach him. After they finally succeed in establishing contact, Gordon is teleported to their hidden lab, where he learns they were attempting to snatch a nuclear device from the Black Ops and send it to Xen in hopes of disrupting further alien incursions. However, the bomb failed to detonate— so Gordon agrees to return to Xen and arm it manually, fully aware it may be a suicide mission. The mod ends with an explosion and a cutscene showing the scientists now held captive under the G-Man’s supervision, with Gordon presumed dead."
