"Greece - Sisters of the Earth" - by Nicholas Gabriel At a height of 1,000 meters, on Mount Ossa in Greece, there is a Christian Orthodox monastery that is exclusively inhabited by nuns. They come from many countries and have come together here to live a life in harmony and harmony with nature. "GEO Reportage" visited the sisters. The monastery on Mount Ossa was founded in the 16th century. It fell into disrepair at the end of the 20th century and was only rediscovered by a handful of nuns at the beginning of the new millennium. In painstaking detail work, they renovated the old masonry and have developed it into a small, flourishing agricultural way of life. They have turned 30 hectares of land and its buildings into a little paradise. Before they could do that, they had to clear, plant, rebuild and re-equip the monastery. Since this is also the house of God, their love and faith helped them, in addition to the zest for action. Today 20 sisters from a total of 13 countries live and work here. In addition to growing their own vegetables, the women breed sheep, chickens and cows, from which they are supplied with milk, cheese and eggs. They sell what they don't need themselves. Before you are definitely accepted into the monastery community, you have to take your exams, in front of the others and in front of yourself. However, a vocation to monastery life should be carefully considered. Again and again young volunteers come to the monastery who want to test the simple and humble life for themselves and see how they cope with abstinence. ***** The Sisters of the monastery extend their gratitude for this documentary in the manor French Film Director, Nicholas Gabriel, captured and presented their monastic life.
