Things that shrink after washing look funny and ridiculous. Although nowadays fabrics are such that they rarely shrink, there are still moments when it happens. If it's knitwear, then most likely the item shrank due to improper washing. My new tracksuit has become shorter by a few centimeters (it wasn't long to begin with). As a result, you walk around looking like you've been shot. Stretching the fabric in this case doesn't make sense. The only option is to lengthen the sleeves and the bottom of the pants with another fabric. In the past, during my youth, when the first jeans were just starting to appear, you had to be careful that they didn't shrink after the first wash. To prevent this, you would clip clothespins to the bottom of the wet jeans and place bricks inside. The pants would dry, and the length would remain the same, after which you could wash them without worry. Sweater. I unpicked the bottom of the sleeves and steamed the seams. This increased the length by 1.5 cm. From another sweater, I took the cuffs and stitched them to the sleeves, aligning the marks that were at the same distance on both the sleeve and the cuff. If there are no cuffs, you can take fabric that matches in quality and color. Cut out the missing length and stitch it on. Pants. I unpicked the bottom of the legs and the inner seam by about 7 cm. I did a fitting. I measured how much fabric needed to be added in length with a ruler. Don't forget about the hem allowances. From black knit fabric, I cut out two strips, each 15 cm long. I stitched them to the pants and reinforced the side seam. I marked the desired length, folded the allowance, and stitched it. As a result, the length increased by 11 cm. With this problem, the width of the cuffs should be made double and stitched around, just like the sleeves, depending on personal preference. Now the suit is of normal length. It looks as it should after washing; all the needle holes and creases will disappear, and the fabric will regain its original appearance.
