www.twitchyracing.com or facebook.com/twitchyracing Over the years, we've run into countless "dead" starters on the early RX7s (hey, they're 20+ years old now, what do you expect?) and owners have griped about the cost of new OEM units and even the reman versions available over the counter. Personally, we prefer to maintain OEM starters when possible over the reman versions. Normally the failure of the OEM unit is either dirt/carbon build up or worn brushes. All of which can be repaired for $0-$20. This video just gives a quick overview of a normal 13B Non-turbo starter motor, however they are almost all serviced the same way throughout the generations, even all the way up to the RX8 models now. I want to add, this is a quick cell phone video tutorial, and I'll apologize that I am not a professional videographer or voice over actor. I do hope that it sheds some light on how these systems work and maybe you'll be able to save yourself a few bucks by doing the repair yourself.
