NAMPA: WHK Dr. Geingob Namibia's 3rd president 21 March 2015 hd

WINDHOEK, 21 MAR (NAMPA) - Dr Hage Geingob was sworn-in as Namibia's third President during the Silver Jubilee independence celebration here on Saturday. Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba handed over the symbols of power to Geingob, which include the Constitution of Namibia, national flag, presidential standard and the national seal. Pohamba described the new head of state as a true leader. 'Geingob is more then prepared. Our country is in good hands,'Pohamba said about his successor. Geingob was also presented with the conferment of the highest national order of the Welwitschia Mirabillis. Chief Justice Peter Shivute conducted the swearing-in ceremony. Geingob took oath in front of Pohamba, Founding Father Dr Sam Nujoma, as well as the more than 20 000 masses who filled the stadium to capacity. Shivute also swore in Vice-President Nickey Iyambo, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and her Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nanndi-Ndaitwah. PC-SL/CT (Edited by: Francois Lottering) NAMPA
