Europe’s midstream sector is moving from a single-molecule gas system to a multi-molecule infrastructure built around natural gas, hydrogen and CO₂. For EPC contractors, that shift is redefining both opportunity and execution risk. Andrea Scuderi, Head of Commercial for Pipeline & Europe at Bonatti, shares how the international energy contractor is supporting clients across traditional oil & gas and net-zero projects. With 80 years of experience and over 10,000 employees, Bonatti operates across pipelines, plants, net zero solutions, O&M and production services — increasingly focused on hydrogen infrastructure and carbon capture and storage (CCS). The discussion addresses the real bottlenecks in European decarbonisation: permitting complexity, supply chain resilience, project bankability and the need for measurable ESG performance. Andrea highlights CCS as the most mature near-term solution for hard-to-abate sectors, referencing Bonatti’s involvement in the Porthos CCS project in Rotterdam, as well as participation in Germany’s GET H2 hydrogen backbone pipeline. The conversation also explores why early EPC engagement, flexible supply chains and execution capability will determine which projects move beyond FID in the coming years. 📍 Filmed at DECARBON 2026 – International Congress on Oil & Gas Decarbonisation 🎥 Organised by BGS Group – https://bgs.group/events/ 🔗 Learn more about DECARBON: https://decarboncongress.com 🔗 Follow BGS Group on YouTube – / @bgsgroup #DECARBON2026 #CCS #HydrogenInfrastructure #EnergyTransition #EPC #BGSGroup 00:00 Bonatti overview & global operations 01:03 Midstream decarbonisation focus 02:02 Bankability & permitting bottlenecks 03:30 CCS as near-term solution 04:36 Hydrogen backbone projects 05:06 EPC execution & supply chain resilience
