Hear from The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida about their Aging Adults Grant cycle, which is now open. Grant applications are open to nonprofit organizations whose primary focus is support for aging adults or support for caregivers of aging adults. Also learn more about the Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program! The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is a statewide, volunteer-based system of local units that act as advocates for residents of long-term care facilities. Volunteers work with staff to identify, investigate, and resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of, residents of nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult family-care homes, and continuing care retirement communities. Florida Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program Presentation Topics: • History of the Ombudsman program – what it is and how it came to be. • The importance of the program – who/what/how. • Trends of long-term care and where Florida fits into that. • How the Ombudsman program work with other state agencies on behalf of older adults. • The future of the program. • Volunteers and how you can become involved.
