In this tutorial we look at the future tense inflection in the Pali language. Specifically, the simple future verb mood. We detail how the verb tense is created and how they are used in Pali. The future verb is formed by addition of the inflectional infix issa to either the present stem or, more commonly, directly to the verb root. Then the primary personal endings are attached to indicate person and number. Note: Stems of the seventh conjugation (ie. those ending in –e) take the infix -essa-. This is the twenty third video in this series of Pali language tutorials for the beginner - in English. For anyone wishing to learn Pali, the language of the Theravada suttas.
