Nairobi recorded yet another dramatic theft of about 40 million shillings in yet another dramatic and mysterious heist. An Administration Policeman and three employees of the G4S security firm are believed to have disappeared with the money which was on transit from the CFC Stanbic bank in Westlands to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for onward transmission to Juba in Southern Sudan. A statement for G4S confirmed the disappearance of the money but disputed the figure invloved stating that the team was transporting about 300,000 us dollors which roughly translates to about 23 million Shillings. The vehicle that was transporting the money was later found dumped along Chemelil road in Ngara with no money. And as Andrew Ochieng reports, it is the second of similar incidents to occur in as many months and will certainly raise the alarm bells on the current ways of handling cash-in-Transit.
