But the good news is that the test is less complicated for an electric car compared to a petrol or diesel and you are more likely to pass too, according to the official data. Nicki took our trusty Nissan Leaf down to Ancaster Heathrow Nissan, Nissan’s newest site in West London, for its annual check up to make sure it gets that all-important certificate and stays safe and legal. There’s not a huge difference in the test of an electric car and any other vehicle. When you arrive the tester will enter the chassis number of your car into a computer, and it will prompt the technician as to which tests need to be carried out according to the age and fuel type of the car. If your car meets all the requirements, you can drive off with the all-important pass certificate.
