The Cowsills were from Rhode Island and were the inspiration for The Partridge Family. The Cowsill children were considered by the producers in the early development for the show, but Shirley Jones had already been cast as Shirley Partridge for the show and her replacement with Barbara Cowsill was not an option with the producers.
