On the 3rd Saturday night of June, a plethora of events were taking place. One in particular, however, had a certain crowd sneaking away. On this day, the community-led event, Culture & Cannabis, celebrated its 3rd anniversary. From its humble beginnings back in 2016, the mastermind behind C&C, JC Coats, has set the standard high in creating a downtown experience like no other. The city’s back-and-forth relationship with cannabis has always kept the event on the move; from being a part of Ferguson's Downtown to the CMXX just some blocks away, C&C, has always stayed true to its Artsy-roots. For that reason, bringing the event to a new date as well as one of the most popular areas in the district made the night a special one. Atop the The Downtown Grand at the Citrus Pool, over 40 brands and nearly 100 community members met to revel in our favorite plant. The lack of smoke in the air makes anyone newcomers wonder but, the vibe is like no other. June's Culture & Cannabis event was complete with a dancing panda, a Koko Nugz eating contest, a fashion show and the delectably-stoney voice of Stoner Rob to narrate it all. This installment hosted performances by Mike Xavier, Jay R Beatbox, RedX, Phillip Wolf, and The Sober Junkie. All the while, DJ Og Serg kept the vibe right as Omni Modeling dazzled the crowd with accessories from Jandjaes and Shookboyz. Every month, this award-winning event celebrates all things Ganja and continues to only elevate with time. This 3-year anniversary marked not only a victory for C&C but a victory for Cannabis acceptance as well. A cannabis event so close to the Fremont Street experience, not to mention the Casinos, would have been met with stiff disapproval years ago. As cannabis has made strides culturally and politically in Las Vegas, that evolution is the clear benefit of a community moving as one towards a common goal. Check out Culture & Cannabis at the Citrus Grand Pool deck once again on July 13th - and every second Saturday through October. Don't forget to network and grow with C&C as well at the Vendor Mixer on June 27th. Follow @cultureandcannabis on Instagram for more information and updates.
