1986 Audi Quattro Group S Prototype 5-Cylinder SOUNDS at The ICE

During The ICE in St. Moritz I have filmed the 1986 Audi Quattro Group S Prototype. Engine: Five-cylinder light metal in-line engine with turbocharger, four valves per cylinder Displacement: 2,110 cm₴ Power: approx. 350 kW/476 hp at 7,500 rpm Torque: 480 Nm at 5,500 rpm Maximum speed: approx. 200 km/h Total production: 2 pieces Year of Make: 1986 The 1985 and 1986 World Rally Championships led to an unprecedented technical arms race of the car brands involved. Audi competitors such as Peugeot, Lancia or Ford brought purebred Racing car, Audi drove the comparatively production-based, short Rallye quattro S1. In 1985, the Audi sports department began to develop a special rally car with a tubular space frame, plastic body and four-valve turbo engine in a mid-engine arrangement, which is used in the Group S rally planned from 1987 onwards. However, the two Group S rally cars that hac already been built were no longer to be used. A serious accident at the 1986 Portugal Rally - without the involvement of an Audi - led to the fact that the International Sports Authority FlA has suspended both the current Rally Group B and did not advertise the planned Group S from the 1987 season. For the safety reasons mentioned above, Audi decided to use the withdrawal from the World Rally Championship.
