IT's a BIG DEAL! One of the most beloved bands to come from coastal Va. where they began. They are embraced and welcomed by all, everywhere they play, which makes a festival setting perfect for their music. The signature sound of Snuff began in the early 1970's. What defines them most? Their Original Music. Imppecable Vocals and 3 Part Harmonies Cecil Hooker Their original tunes are as contemporary as anything being played today ,and are pretty much timeless. The songwriters in Snuff include award winning songwriter Chuck "Coyote" Larson, Robbie House, Norman Harrell, and Jim "Jimbo" Bowlin now deceased. Having embraced Country and Southern Rock, a tad Bluegrass, and Country with a Rock Edge, for lack of a better word ... Acoustic Rock .... they have an undeniable appeal to all ages with their diversity of music genres. Some 40 years later and crowds are moved by their tunes as they seem to harvest a new generation of listeners each and every time they play. Those who have followed them are dedicated fans and you can always find them faithfully present, living it up with the Snuff soundtrack of celebratory music at every show I have attended. "The Good Time Energy Vibe, We're Gonna Have Nothing But a Good Time " when and wherever these fellas play.... is always present.. ALWAYS! The 3 part harmonies make them unique. For no better perfect blend of smooth and intoxicating blend of sound than these 3 fellas, Robbie House, Chuck Larson and Norman Harrell. We are all so.... Lucky that they all found each other.... to me that's pretty amazing...... and I wonder what it was like when they discovered that kind of beauty emanated from each of them and melted into the what would become THEIR SOUND. Maybe they were too young to know. But albeit they found magic.... Cecil Hooker.....Classically trained.... played with the Richmond Symphony. I have to admit, I grew up with Country music... and it wasn't always my flavor. It was my parents music. So going to hear a band with a violin just reminded me of something my parents would listen to. But Cecil took it to a whole new level.... he'd solo on that violin like it was a lead guitar with BOUNCE! He would take the song into parts unknown and the band would meet him there. They would then bring us back to earth, back to the room, and land back on that stage. Often times and it was not unusual for Cecil to venture out and among the crowd stepping upon the tables (he was wireless )and then stand there playing like Paganini had taken over the room. That was always a treat if that went down! I have heard that Cecil went out in the streets of NYC from a gig the band played and moved among the street like the Pied Piper of Hamlin with a following crowd as he ventured back into the venue.... I believe it! History of the Band: http://home.earthlink.net/~tudderj/id...
