In this third episode of the podcast, we found out how the first of the four workshops on the topic "Strategies and tools aimed at improving employment opportunities" went, what was learned and what conclusions were drawn. The workshops are financed by the INTERREG Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 program through the SFERA project as the study "Needs of small and medium-sized enterprises in Lika-Senj County" showed that more education and workshops are needed. It is important to emphasize that these are not classic workshops or education, but participatory discussions between entrepreneurs for the purpose of mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences, successes, etc. in order to learn from each other, establish cooperation, etc. The guest in podcast was Anamarija Grabovac, a master's degree in political science and a postgraduate university specialist in the preparation and implementation of EU projects, who successfully moderated the first mentioned workshop. The first question was how the first thematic workshop on "Strategies and tools aimed at improving employment opportunities" went, which took place last Monday at the Lika-Senj County Development Center? Anamarija says that the point of all four workshops is to have people participate, not only here in Lika but also in other rural areas. In the first workshop they dealt with employment tools and the biggest challenge which is finding a sufficiently qualified and specific workforce. As much as unemployment is a problem, finding a workforce is just as big of a problem as there is a huge imbalance between the market and the education system. Currently, there is a huge surge in the employment of foreign labour, which entrepreneurs are forced to do. Entrepreneurs are also not sufficiently informed, as it is difficult to select specific information that relates to them in the sea of information. That is why in the workshop they work on concrete examples of good practice and through participatory discussions we find specific solutions. The next question was why the "employment" in rural entrepreneurship seems like a challenge for entrepreneurs? The biggest challenge is due to general depopulation, because the population that remains is less educated and has fewer micro skills that are needed. Sadly, entrepreneurs cannot solve this problem on their own, so the government's help is needed. When it comes to what strategies and tools can improve employability, Anamarija says that they are often not applied to their full extent. Each local government unit has its own development strategies that fit into European strategies and what is needed is good communication. The SFERA project is an excellent example of how information should reach those who need it most. The biggest advantage in Italy compared to them is that they are much more flexible, both entrepreneurs and the state adapt to each other more easily, and this is where Lika should look up to them, for the development of special forms of tourism and agricultural production, modern technology and much more. It is also important to focus on micro and macro entrepreneurship in small communities, and in this way it is easier to develop. She concludes that the younger generation is more focused on micro and macro entrepreneurship, because with digital platforms, the market for young people is not geographically limited, and there lies the key to the success of smaller rural areas, especially rich in natural resources, such as Lika. The biggest problems for which we are looking for solutions are still property legal relations, the introduction of modern technologies and digitization in agriculture. SFERA project gives concrete examples, and the goal after the workshops is for the entrepreneur to have a clear vision for the short-term and long-term development of his business. The next three workshops will also be held in Lika-Senj County Development Center, one is on the subject of marketing, other on strategic business planning and the last one deals with available financing mechanisms until 2030 in Croatia. #SFERA ##Italy #Croatia #Bari #Lika #LAGLika #Podcast
