In an animated title sequence, the colourful CHRC logo emerges on screen alongside bilingual text on a white background. The animated leaf logo breaks apart into a variety of colourful shapes that move across the screen, revealing the text. THE PAY EQUITY ACT EQUAL PAY FOR WORK OF EQUAL VALUE FEDERAL PUBLIC SECTOR PRIVATE SECTOR Approx. 4,500 employers 1.2 MILLION employees The shapes leave the frame and only text remains, top and bottom, with a dividing element between them. EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK PAY EQUITY Only the text EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK remains on screen as a female and male appear in regular clothes. Their wardrobe changes; first to identical apple costumes, then to identical uniforms. The colourful shapes return, wiping away the characters. Text appears along with group of females and a group of males. The characters represent different ethnicities and professions: hard hat, uniform, suit and tie, lab coat, telephone headset, worker’s vest. One male holds out an apple. One female holds out an orange so the fruit is large in the frame. An equal sign appears between the fruit. PAY EQUITY EQUAL PAY FOR WORK OF EQUAL VALUE As the fruit clears the frame, the people are replaced by text. SKILL EFFORT RESPONSIBILITIES WORKING CONDITIONS The female and male faces appear on either side of a scale. The view zooms out to reveal the female holding a tablet as a transport truck pulls up, driven by the male. She taps the screen of her tablet as he gets out of the truck. They stand side by side. An equal sign appears between them. Dollar signs appear above each. The scene transforms into a bank setting with the woman in a teller’s window and the man wearing a telephone headset. The scene transforms once more as the teller window turns into a desk where the woman sits, and a man wearing a hard hat on a construction site. All three versions of the characters stand together (3 males and 3 females). Text appears on screen. PAY EQUITY GENDER EQUALITY The colourful shapes wipe across the frame and reshape into the CHRC leaf logo, alongside the text and website information.
