Today we took a 5 hour 3rd class train across Thailand that cost us 48 baht, but how much did we really spend? As always we spent our entire train journey buying food and drinks from the hardworking vendors that work these train routes. For us this is the best part of the thai railway experience. I think in the end we spent over 250 baht extra but I wouldn't have it any other way, put your 1st and 2nd class tickets in the bin.
