This video features an original musical composition written and produced by VARGVEGR. The lyrics are written by me and are inspired by Old Norse language, poetry, and mythic tradition. All music, text, and visual presentation are created as part of my original artistic project. The song is built on Old Norse verse and performed as a narrative vocal piece, where rhythm, repetition, and spoken intensity carry the meaning rather than melody. The structure draws on traditional poetic forms, adapted into a modern musical setting. All music and lyrics in this video are original and created by me. The visual presentation is intentionally minimal, allowing the text and performance to remain central. Lyrics written by VARGVEGR: Út gengum vér, þar engi bað, með egg í hendi, ok eigi orð. Jǫrð var stinn, en hjarta sterkt — ok sverðit vissi hverr vegr var. Á vǫllum grær ei fríðr né friðr, heldr spor af sveita ok svara djúp. Þat veit sá, er veg ferr einn, at drǫs er sterk, ef dǫð finnsk síð. Með nára syngr ei neinn um æru, heldr með skjǫldum, sem skúr í skóg. Hræsviðr kennir, hvat hjarta berr, ok féll sá, er ei stóð fast. Forn vegr kennir, hvat faðir sagði, ok hǫnd verðr slitr, ef hugr er veikr. En sá er drengr, er dvelr ei við, heldr ferr fram, þar frægð er fjǫr. Svá kómu vér með sár á síðu, ok lagðum oss niðr í launlaust kvild. On these fields, no peace nor beauty grows, only the marks of men and answers deep. He knows it well who walks alone: that resolve is strong when death draws near. No man sings of honor from a feeble heart,, but with shields, like rain upon forest, The corpse-field teaches what the heart bears, and he fell who did not stand fast. The old road teaches what father told: the hand will slip if the mind is weak. But he is drengr who does not linger, who moves ahead where honor is life. So we came with wounds upon our sides, and laid us down to ungratefull rest. Yet our name lives, if anything lives, where fire takes hold and one man sings. The wood cries. The road bears.
