I'll be using 3 guitar pedals/effects. EHX Germanium OD, EHX Big Muff & WEM Copicat Tape Echo to add analog saturation (and delay) to my digital recording. I've extensively used, and been fascinated by, plugins that add saturation to a digital recording. I've also recorded for years on an 8-track tape machine. I'm also on a budget! Looking for fun and effective ways to bring a recording to life. Here, I'm testing out what it's like to AFFORDABLY pass the audio through real germanium transistors and real tape, as part of a hybrid digital/analog setup. 00:00 - Intro (Why Saturation & Why Pedals) 02:14 - Tape Echo (Tape Saturation/Ambience) 04:38 - Germanium Overdrive (Transistor Saturation) 10:26 - Fuzz Pedal 13:40 - Fuzz Pedal TO Tape Echo 16:56 - Textures (All The Textures) 18:27 - Guide Vocal I had fun. I have compared, outside of this video, the saturation from these pedals vs my favourite UAD plugins, Analog Obsession plugins and Waves plugins, and (although more time consuming) I often prefer what these pedals do to the sound, and the "living" qualities and textures they provide. I'll touch on that in the video. See what you think.
