I got the idea to use an arpeggiator to create patterns for found sound percussion and I just had to try it out and share with you. 00:25 - I started out with recording a variety of sounds from a pen. 00:50 - Chopped the recording manually to ensure the splits are in the correct place. 01:40 - I then render each item as a new take, which creates a new audio file for each of the sounds. You can see the new files in the Media Explorer. 02:00 - I load up Kontakt 5, make a new instrument (double-click), show the mapping editor view, and drag the selected files from the media explorer to the mapping editor. 03:10 - In Kontakt's script editor load the preset for sequencing: arpeggiator Now play any combination of notes and the sounds play in tempo with the project. 4:45 - As an alternative to Kontakt's Arpeggiator you can use one included with REAPER, JS: MIDI Arpeggiator. It was a fun experiment and I think this could be used really effectively with the right samples and post-processing. Thanks for watching! Subscribe and hit that LIKE button!
