Violynne at the New Dancers' Celebration, October 19, 2013

The dance 'Violynne' was devised by Johnsonville SCD Club tutor Rod Downey in honour of Lynne Scott, who plays both classical violin and Scottish country dancing fiddle music. Lynne Scott and Associates (the others are Jean Malcolm on keyboard and Richard Hardie on double bass) played at the New Dancers' Celebration in Newlands, Wellington. There were 12 sets on the floor, and more than a hundred people altogether. Unfortunately my camera card ran out before I could film the entire dance but at least you'll see it danced through once, and hear Rod explain the 'symbolism' of the dance.
