The Geometry of Flows on the Line - Dynamical Systems | Lecture 2

What differentiates dynamical systems from simply the study of ordinary differential equations is a geometric perspective. First introduced by Poincare in the late 1800s, one thinks of solutions to differential equations as flowing through a space. In the case of one-dimensional dynamical systems, we can represent this flow with a phase line diagram. In this lecture we compare and contrast separation of variables to the geometric method to illustrate the latter's utility. This course is taught by Jason Bramburger for Concordia University.
