This is how I create a brushed look and coat my aluminum parts. DA with 220, use a surfacing tool with the red wheel, knock down the top with a scotchbrite pad, clean and coat with Sharkhide. Sharkhide sprays thin so mist the first coat and continue to go back over everything until your happy with the coverage. Do not let it dry spraying multiple coats like you would regular paint. I have zero affiliation with them. This is just what I use and have had good results, yours may vary. The part being coated is a TJ/LJ rear torque box stiffener. Does a few things. First it ties the corners together. The OE only uses spot welds to tie the corners into the torque box. Once you install corners your just moving the target. This version also lets you mount Baja Designs S2 flush mount backup lights and it also looks way better then a tramp stamp cover plate with huge gaps between it and the corners.
