Hey, check out this 1977 XC Ford Falcon Sundowner Panel Van that was just finished its restoration to be back on the road and this was it first event at Classic Cars and Coffee at the University of Western Australia Nedlands on the 31.12.2022. This 1977 XC Ford Falcon Sundowner Panel Van is a 4.9lt Cleveland V8 with a 4-barrel Carby, 3 speed T-bar automatic. Its paint in the original ford factory colour of Pine n Lime with Ginger Trim Interior. This Ford Sundowner Van is 1 of 50 for 1977. For people that may not know the Ford Sundowner Panel Van was brought out by Ford in 1977 to cash in on this popular fad that Holden had created with the Holden Sandman and the Chrysler Drifter Panel Vans. So, Ford dressed up the Standard Commercial Panel Van – Falcon 500 with Bright Colour paints, Unique stripes, GS Grille, GS Bonnet, GS Interior including dash, wheels, console, and bucket seats. The Sundowner Van was also given a tail gate like the Holden Sandman’s rather than the standard barn doors the commercial vans had. However, the competition against Holden Sandman was sort lived and more some for the Chrysler Drifter with less than a third were made to General Motor Holden production and the Sundowner options since in late 1979 with the Ford Falcon XD model. Ford produce 1141 Panel Van for 1977 and then in 78 it was less and 79 it less again. So, it’s a brief history in these Vans, however, Ford Australia is no longer providing Vehicle Verification Letters since they are no longer producing Vehicles in Australia. There will be load of history lost in Australia unless someone taking this one from Ford. However, If someone did, people would be happy to pay for this information for their vehicle.
