After a 2-year hiatus due to the COVID pandemic, the NY Transit Museum resumed the annual tradition of running a vintage train every Sunday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. On Sunday, November 27th, December 4th, 11th and 18th, the beloved "Train of Many Colors" will operate along the 1 line, making express stops on the local track between the Chambers Street and 137th Street – City College stations. Don’t miss your chance to travel through time – for just the cost of a MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap! New Route: The Holiday Nostalgia Train will travel along a new route this year! Vintage train rides will depart from the Chambers Street and 137th Street – City College stations. The Holiday Nostalgia Train will make express stops on the local 1 line track between Chambers Street and 137th Street – City College: Chambers Street 14th Street 34th Street – Penn Station (Train will stop on the local 1 line platform) Times Square – 42nd Street 59th Street – Columbus Circle 72nd Street 96th Street 125th Street (For uptown trains – last opportunity to return downtown or transfer) 137th Street – City College (No in system transfer at this station) The Train of Many Colors include the following train sets from the 1960s – the R33ML, R33WF, and R36WF – each pair with a unique color. The Train of Many Colors use the following colors – “Tartar Red” and “Gunn Red” redbirds, Kale Green “Green Machines”, blue-and-silver “Platinum Mist” and the striking two-tone robin’s egg blue and cream “Bluebird” paint – all representing several different eras of the NYC subway.
