Standard Proctor Test is a very important test for highway and geotechnical engineers in establishing a criteria of getting maximum dry density (MDD) and finding optimum Moisture Content (OMC) for soil compaction. The field density test, carried out at site, is to evaluate the density achieved at site and is then compared with the MDD obtained by Standard Proctor Test to get the relative compaction. Usually the relative compaction should be more than 95% as an acceptance criteria for the field compaction of subgrade, sub-base or even earthen embankments / backfill.
